Jet Lowe
YBONC Founder
Jet Lowe has lived in Nevada City since 1987, married to Robert Lowe, MD. Their two children both attend Nevada Union High School.
Jet is a GIS/CAD specialist for the Tahoe N.F., Nevada City, CA. She has 37 years in federal employment, 30 with Forest Service, 7 with Department of Defense. GIS training from ESRI courses, education in business and computer science at San Francisco State University. Jet enjoys cooking, riding bikes and horses, and scenic drives.

Duane Strawser
Former owner of the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop, experienced MTB/road racer, member of numerous corporate and community service boards and committees, and Nevada City City Council member, Duane is the volunteer promoter of the Nevada City Bicycle Classic.

John Seivert, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
John moved from Santa Cruz to Grass Valley in 2000 and worked at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for a year before opening his physical therapy private practice. In 2001 he opened his private practice, Seivert Physical Therapy.
As a business owner, John has provided countless volunteer hours evaluating and treating sports injuries from the youth sports teams of NUHS’s cross country and mountain bike teams and the Bear River HS football team. In 2016 John moved his business to its current location in Grass Valley and changed the name to Body Logic Physical Therapy (BLPT).
John volunteered his time as a parent ride leader during his kids’ high school time on the mountain bike team from 2012 – 2016.
In 2024 John sold his business, BLPT to Jesse Dunbar a local Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) who was born and raised in the community. John loves his time of working part-time and staying active as an educator in the PT professional world.
John continues to be a competitive age group bike racer competing in road, mountain, and cyclo-cross events. With his kids grown and out of the house with their own kids, John enjoys spending time with his grandkids whenever possible as they live out of state. He and his wife enjoy the great outdoors of Nevada County and traveling for great photography opportunities.

Estelle Barber
Bookkeeper
Estelle has lived in Nevada County since 1981 enjoying the privilege of raising three sons.
She has degrees in Elementary Education and Accounting and has worked in the accounting field for 30 years with the last 10 years working with non-profits. Currently she is the Finance Manager for Music in the Mountains and the treasurer for the Nevada County Composers Cooperative.
Hiking, bike riding, learning how to garden and work on her never ending home remodel with her partner, Mark, occupy her spare time.

Mike Oitzman
Mike Oitzman moved to Nevada County in 2004, He bought his first mountain bike when he turned 50 and competed in the Downieville Classic a year later. Since then, Mike was a ride leader for the NU Mountain Bike Team when his son was on the team, but found his passion photographing all of the local bike events. You’re likely to spot Mike catching the smiles of riders as they enjoy our local trails or race for glory, or leading field trips during the wee hours of the night to capture the beauty of the Milky Way.

Amber Briney
Amber Briney is a Prevention Chief with the U.S. Air Force and a proud military veteran. Her passion for service extends beyond her career and into her commitment to youth development. Amber has seen firsthand the power of community engagement in shaping positive experiences for youth. Her family moved to Nevada County in 2012 where her children benefitted greatly from YBONC’s community influence. Both her children participated in elementary school MTB clubs and later through the NU MTB Team and YBONC events. Her daughter now rides for Cal Poly Humboldt’s collegiate team and works with Truckee Trails, continuing the family’s love for the outdoors.
An avid hiker and mild trail rider, Amber takes time each evening to enjoy the natural beauty of the trails. Amber is dedicated to supporting initiatives that inspire the next generation to lead healthy, active lives and build lasting connections to the world around them.

Laurent Frieden
Born in Luxembourg, Laurent started racing Mountain Bikes in 1992 and has since then competed in many disciplines, from Downhill to weeklong MTB stage races all over Europe and the US, with participations at National, European and World Championships. He first worked in a bike shop as a 14 year old boy, visited many World Cups and World Championships as a fan, a journalist, a mechanic or as a racer and was helping to re-build the MTB section at the Luxembourgish Cycling Federation. Laurent also started the Cranks n’ Chains MTB Team in Luxembourg that included many international riders, with the main goal to support young, gravity oriented and female racers. After having re-located to California in 2015, Laurent’s mission is to preserve the history of MTB racing, by collecting bikes, stories and statistics from the last 4 decades. He is also the organizer of Velo Cosmos, a bicycle lifestyle, art and history event. In his spare time he is riding as a volunteer coach with the Miners High School and the 7 Hills Elementary school MTB programs. Otherwise, Laurent enjoys traveling with his wife and their little daughter - mostly on bikes of course!
